About me
Seyram Selase is the President of Cunningham Estates, a multigenerational family property in East Alabama with over 70 years of history. His work is centered on preserving legacy, protecting African American land ownership, and activating the land as a living space for education, reflection, and community engagement.
At Cunningham Estates, Seyram has developed a growing model that blends conservation, heritage preservation, and agritourism. Through guided excursions, youth engagement, and immersive experiences rooted in nature, the land serves as both a classroom and a place of restoration. His approach emphasizes the importance of storytelling, environmental stewardship, and reconnecting people to land as a source of identity, healing, and opportunity.
Seyram’s journey with Cunningham Estates is also deeply personal. After recognizing threats to the property, he took intentional steps to secure and protect the land, including obtaining his real estate and broker’s license. His work today reflects a broader commitment to helping families understand the value of land retention, long-term planning, and generational impact.
In addition to his work on the land, Seyram serves as the Executive Director of the Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP), where he leads initiatives that promote community health and prevention. Across both roles, his leadership is grounded in purpose, stewardship, and a vision for sustainable impact that honors both past and future generations.
