About me
Bethaney Wilkinson serves as Executive Director of the Sustainable Forestry & African American Land Retention Network (SFLR), a non-profit intermediary working to create a sustainable system of support for African American and rural forest landowners through forest management and conservation. With a background in organizational health, asset-based community development, and social entrepreneurship, Bethaney is dedicated to advancing solutions to challenges facing diverse communities.
In addition to her leadership at SFLR Network, Bethaney is also a writer, facilitator, and spiritual director rooted in rural middle Georgia, where she lives with her husband Alex and their two dogs, Isla and Bear. She has an MA in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and a BA in educational studies from Emory University. She is the author of The Diversity Gap: Where Good Intentions Meet True Cultural Change (HarperCollins 2021) and A More Beautiful Way to Live: Nine Practices to Unlearn Habits of Anxiety, Fear, and Urgency (Brazos Press, 2026).
