About me
Alton Perry is the Director of Roanoke Electric Cooperative’s Sustainable Forestry and Land Retention (SFLR) Project, where he supports all (regardless of race) forest landowners with a particular focus on empowering African American families to use their woodlands to build wealth and preserve generational legacy. His leadership directly advances Roanoke Cooperative’s mission of enhancing the quality of life in the diverse communities it serves.
In addition to his role at SFLRP, Alton serves on the Board of the North Carolina Tree FarmProgram, represents the SFLR Network on the Forest Climate Working Group a national organization, and is the Board Chair of the SFLR Network. Through these positions, and his 40 plus years in forestry and conservation, he contributes to statewide and national strategies that strengthen forest stewardship, climate resilience, and land retention for underserved landowners.
